About Me

After being obese and unhealthy for my entire adult life I decided I needed to make some changes especially after giving birth to my daughter. I tried going at it on my own for several months and played around with the same 20 pounds lost. I was battling with postpartum depression and felt hopeless. Finally I said enough is enough and walked into Weight Watchers and took control of my destiny. I began my journey at 272 pounds. I walked into weight watchers at 252.6 pounds. I was wearing a size 18/20 and on 7 medications. I have several medical problems which include an immune deficiency, rheumatoid arthritis, celiac disease, and atrial flutter. I let those diseases control my life for too long. I walked into that first weight watchers meeting on February 24th, 2010 and have not looked back since.

I started out working out and strength training right away. It was not easy but slowly over time I began losing the weight and feeling more confident in my workouts. After losing about 60 pounds I was able to come off all 7 medications!!! When I got into the 220s I began jogging and ran in my first 5K in September 2010, I finished in 29 minutes and felt on top of the world. That first race, got me hooked on running and today I have completed 3 half marathons and more 5Ks than I can count on 1 hand. I finally made it to goal weight in June 2011 and hit 150 pounds putting me at a normal BMI for the first time in 15 years!

My next big goal is to run my first full marathon in Philadelphia on November 20, 2011. My blog here is my story, I share what works for me and how I live day to day training, working hard and having fun!
