Marathon Training Week 13

Wow lucky number 13!! It was a pretty lucky week for me no complaints here!

Mondays have become my home workout days and I must admit I do not mind at all. It is such a downer day at work usually that I need the sleep in the morning, to recover from my longer run on Sunday and need the stress release after work. So it works perfect to come home from workout and do a crossfit style workout at home. I have been lucky to have collected lots of fitness things that we have and I can throw together a workout. I did a 40 minute one.

Tuesday I went for a 4.2 mile run early in the morning at a 9:45 easy pace. It felt good. Then I came home from work and knocked out 2.4 more miles jogging with Peanut in her jogger. It was a great day until the tire went flat and we had to come home hehe

Wednesday has become gym day and I get up and out by 5AM to hit the YMCA gym. I did the elliptical for 3 miles in 26 minutes and then headed over to the heavy weights. I squatted 3 sets of 10 with 110 pounds! A new high for me, it felt good. I also did deadlifts, military presses, worked on my pull ups, rowing, and curling. Of course a workout is not complete without some push ups ;)

Thursday I opted for a treadmill run after work. Why? Because I do have rheumatoid arthritis and it does flare up occasionally. Thursday morning was one of those bad mornings where a hot shower and Motrin are necessary just to make it into work. By the time the day was done I felt a bit better and I knew the treadmill would be easier and gentler to the sore joints than pavement. It went well too I knocked out 6.2 miles in 54 minutes.

Friday I took a rest day. My knee was swollen and very painful. I was in tears when I woke up and tried to put weight on it. I think the run the day before was just a bit much. I don't know honestly all I know is I had to stay wrapped all day in Arctic Ease and take my Motrin.

Saturday I woke up and the knee was surprisingly better! I headed to my 5K and earned a shiny new PR and a plaque :) I already blogged about it here hehe

Sunday I set out for a 5 mile obstacle race through Lynn woods. I will share that race recap tomorrow!

How was your training week? When is your marathon?

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that mine is only 61 days away!

ahhh it is soo exciting you are almost there!!! Do you ice after your workouts regardless of it is a long run? I do, I learned from my PT, it helps a ton and might help to do those knees for a while :) feel better! and great work
