Run to Remember Expo Recap

I know I am totally teasing you by posting this before the race recap haha!
I promise I am working on it and will be posting that tomorrow!!!

The Run to Remember had a small expo set up the day before the race so on Saturday I headed into the city to pick up my bib number and to attend the team DetermiNation luncheon! I met up there with the wonderful Katy who had asked me to be a guest speaker at the lunch.

I must admit Katy is amazing. I enjoyed working with her so much. The American Cancer Society is such a great charity and the team is wonderful. Everyone is so nice and supportive. I really had so much fun working with the team and my fellow Walgreens co-workers raising money for the ACS. As a team we raised a total of $1,520!!! I was so happy that we worked together and The Walgreens Warriors did very well on race day! Together as a group the DetermiNation team raised a total of $41,000 doing the Run to Remember!!!! I was shocked! I was honored to be among such dedicated people.

The lunch was fun we got to meet fellow team mates and our coach Geoff was there as well. It was pretty cold there on the water front though so we did not stay too long. I was a bit shy talking in front of the group and sharing my story of weight loss and how running has saved me. But it was fun to meet everyone and hear their stories as well. That is the beauty of being among runners, we all have an inspirational story and I always get even more inspired when I hear everyone!

After the lunch I headed over to the expo to get my race bib and look around. I got number 4333! The expo was tiny compared to big marathon ones but it was big enough to get a new fuel belt and a new hat which I wore on race day! The best part of the expo? Meeting this amazing woman:

Yes that is the awesome sweet Kate!!!! She is a fellow Boston resident and happened to be running the 5 miler so we met up at the expo! She is just as nice as she is online! I am mad I waited this long to meet her hehe. She is a fellow Weight Watchers member and a life time maintainer!! She is an awesome runner too! We walked around the expo and then Kate mentioned the Rock N Roll Providence half marathon. We decided to look at the table....

And we signed up!!!!! Yep peer pressure is a *itch hahaha She twisted my arm of course it took a lot of convincing ;) But I am excited to say I will be running my next half marathon on August 7th! This will be my first rock n roll race and the idea of listening to a live band at every mile marker was enough to convince me it will be a fun run while we are both in the middle of marathon training! Plus who does not want to see Sugar Ray after being all hot and sweaty finishing up a half marathon??? ;)

So that was my Saturday afternoon I was a busy bee running around and feeding my running addiction ;)

How did your weekend go?

Stay tuned for my half marathon recap tomorrow!

That is so cool that you got to be a guest speaker at the luncheon. It sounds like you had a great time meeting Katy and going around the expo. It is amazing what peer pressure will make you do. I did my first marathon because my running partner was. At first I told her know way, but I would train with her. BY our first 18 miles I was signed up for my first marathon. Congrats on signing up for the half marathon. You are going to have so much fun. Have a good Holiday.

You are seriously tempting me to run this half marathon. I've never even run a 10K!
