Thanksgiving Run!!!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone today! I hope everyone is having a happy healthy holiday and celebrating with their friends and family. Today i am enjoying a nice relaxing day at home with my little girl and wonderful boyfriend. i am very thankful for my family and for my friends this year especially everyone has been super supportive of me and helping me along my healthy journey :)

So I thought I would start my day off with a turkey day race. The problem is they all began super early in the morning and it was my only day off and the mommy side of me wanted to be there for once when my lil girl woke up. So a compromise? Yes I found one, I ran alone today my own race while she took her afternoon nap! It was not as fun as a race with a group of people but you know what it worked for me.

The day today here in New England is a chilly windy 36 degrees! Lucky for me I wore my cold gear Under Armour pants and shirt, running gloves and a balaclava mask. I know the mask is a bit much but you know what I enjoyed the run outside more thanks to it, because my nose and cheeks weren't frozen! By the end of the run I was sweating a bit and I felt amazing. I was running and thinking to myself I really do enjoy New England, you get to experience every season in all of its glory and I feel lucky.

I finished a little over 5 miles in 38 minutes!!! I did not quite believe it but then again I never believe it when I achieve new fitness goals, the mind always doubts the body. I stayed outside for a bit and walked around to cool down my legs and then came inside and did a kettle bell workout.

I am still doing the Shred It With Weights workout 1 and I was doing it today thinking, hmmmm it is time to move up to level 2 because it is getting to easy to whip this kettle bell around! So I have to order another DVD since my lovely daughter scratched up my first one, and I shall be doing level 2 very soon! level 1 is still available for free On Demand if you have not checked it out yet you should!

I started using the new Polar monitor I recieved from Polar to do a review on, I will be writing an offivial review up next week. It is much more complex than my FT7 so I have a lot to learn! But it tracked calories still and everything:

Now I am off to cook dinner! We will be having a baked chicken, butternut squash, acorn squash, sweet potato, sauted aspragras, garlic mashed potatoes and gravy, and dessert will be a weight watchers friendly crustless pumpkin pie! And I even found this:
Only 2 points for a serving and very little carbs, sugar & all that junk! I had some last night it was great!
It is important to remember that you can still enjoy the holidays without going over board. Many things can be lightened up by just steaming and cooking and not adding all the butter, whole milk etc. I will be enjoying everything today and not feeling deprived. Also I won't have that sick over filled feeling later on!

How do you plan to spend your turkey day?
